Micro Soccer

Ages 4–5

What it looks like

Small-sided games on Monday nights (Monday Night Futbol!) and some Saturdays (3v3 or 4v4).

Parent volunteer coaches make the calls and make sure everyone is having fun.

~8 games per season.

What your child builds

Love for the game by playing with friends, eating snacks, and high-fiving teammates.

First touches and comfort with the ball.

Listening to a coach. Playing with teammates.

For endless-energy kids, consider the paid add-on: Tiny Tots Skills (4 sessions, $50).

What's next

At age 6, players move into Recreational (Stage 2 below).

Recreational

Ages 6–10 · The longest stage — up to 5 seasons

What it looks like

1 game per week + Saturday games for some ages.

Parent volunteer coaches lead practices and games during the season.

3 clinics led by JFC staff — included in the fee, no extra charge.

Free goalkeeper training.

What your child builds

Real soccer skills — passing, receiving, dribbling.

Game awareness and basic positioning.

A love for the game and their team.

Rec-Plus extends the season

JFC coaches lead Rec-Plus tournament teams.

Players who attend Rec-Plus Training (U8–U10 paid add-on) are eligible for Rec-Plus selection.

Teams are formed based on interest and ability, and carry an extra fee.

Rec-Plus Teams

Selected from players who attend Rec-Plus Training during Stage 2 (Ages 8–10).

Pro-coach training 2× per week. 2–3 local tournaments. Continues after the rec season ends.

At age 9, a new choice opens up

Recreational or Competitive?

U9 is the first age at which players can try out for Mississippi Rush Competitive. Some kids continue in recreational; others transition to year-round training and play in travel tournaments via MS Rush.

It's not a one-way door. Tryouts happen every May from U9 through U18.

Older Recreational

Combined two-year age bands. 9v9 at U12, 11v11 at U13+.
Fall + Spring seasons; 1-2 games per week.
$155 (U11–U14) · $165 (U15–U19).

Best for

Kids who love the game and want to keep playing without the year-round, competitive commitment.

Mississippi Rush Competitive

  • Pro-coach training 2× per week.
  • Optional skills training 1× per week in Fall + Spring.
  • 8–10 tournaments per year; 2–4 require overnight travel.
  • ECNL / ECNL-RL pathways at U13+.
Best for

Kids who want pro coaching, more reps, and a path to higher levels of competitive play.

Merged competitive program with MS Rush, Rankin Soccer Club, MS Brilla, and players from across the region.

League play, college showcases, regional and national tournaments.
