Common questions

Questions from new families.

The ones we hear most.

When does registration open?

Recreational registration opens roughly 90 days before each season starts — both Fall and Spring. A late fee applies in the final week before season start. Mississippi Rush Competitive tryouts are held each May for the August–May seasonal year.

What if my child has never played soccer?

Start with Micro Soccer (Ages 4–5) or Recreational (Ages 6+). All our rec programs are welcoming to new players, with parent volunteer coaches and JFC pro-coach training built in.

Is financial support available?

Yes, for recreational, Rec-Plus, and competitive. Need-based scholarship applications are due by July 20 for MS Rush players; rec scholarships are handled at registration.

How do we know if our child should try out for competitive?

If they've played a few seasons and want more, talk to your child's current coach or any JFC staff coach. May tryouts are open to all — there's no commitment to attend.
